What I Want for Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is this weekend and my social media feeds have been absolutely flooded with content about it.
I’m a military wife, and honestly, I just want my husband to be home for Mother’s Day. His unit is gone for a two week training, and guess when that training got planned? Yeah. Go figure. I definitely won’t be waking up to breakfast in bed like how we used to do for my own mom. Instead, I’ll be waking up to spit up and a dirty diaper!
Enough of a pity party, let’s get into Mother’s Day gifts. Now, we have never celebrated this holiday for ourselves before because we’re new parents, but my husband and I had planned to do something big for the parent holidays. I’m a flowers and chocolate kind of gal, and my husband has given me a book bouquet before which was great, so maybe I’ll take little man on a mother-son book shopping date complete with ice cream and a stop at the flower shop.
I love the quality time that we get to spend with family on holidays, and this year is no different! We always eat lunch after church to celebrate my mom, grandma, and great grandma! Our entire family gets together at my uncle’s house for hamburgers, hotdogs, and swimming.
Every year I always struggle to figure out what to get the mothers in my life, though! Do other moms like flowers and books as much as I do? My grandmother might enjoy flowers, but she’s not going to read a book. Jewelry? A sweet treat? A heartfelt homemade card? I have an idea for my mom, but she reads this blog, so I can’t share it! Last year I made these ladies chocolate, peanut butter, yogurt covered strawberries with sugar free, all natural ingredients. I’m sure they’d like them again, but it doesn’t feel like enough.
